Race for the Cure 5k

I’ve mentioned before on this blog that I’m pretty strapped for money and therefore I’m not doing as many races as I normally would. I’ve come to terms with that too…I think. Lol. If I happen to have any extra money lying around, and I can afford a race, GREAT…if not…oh well. There will always be next year.

Well, a couple of days ago I got a text from a cute coworker of mine and she was just given two entries to the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5k this Saturday & wanted to know if I wanted one. Well OF COURSE!!!! How do you turn that down?

I did this race last year and it’s a lot of fun. It’s not like your typical 5k that gets timed. If you time this race, it’s because you timed it yourself. Nobody is in competition with each other & you are all out there for a good cause!

To be honest with you…I don’t remember the last time I ran a 5k. Last week I ran 2.5 miles and it took me about 27 minutes, so I’m a little slower than I used to be when running, but this will be SO fun! I’m excited & ready.

Are you racing this weekend? Do you have a favorite 5k you do?

  1. I hear ya, races are so expensive now a days. I’m having to pick and choose. I have a 10k coming up that I bought from groupon. Is the 5k you’re running the one in North Texas?
